Frequently Asked Questions How is bNavigator different from a simple set of internet bookmarks? bNavigator organises links in a centralised searchable database that is shared amongst communities of users and may be divided into separate regions for development and testing. The surfacing of information is flexibly managed by bNavigator's connectors. This looks like a portal, we already have a portal with reporting links, so why do we need this? The Enterprise Portal can present BI links via a simple web-page or within security-based roles. bNavigator brings far greater flexibility for organising linked business information. In addition to providing a more engaging experience for the user, bNavigator brings a simple and effective approach for delivering quality-checked information. bNavigator can also be integrated into the SAP Enterprise Portal. While the SAP Enterprise Portal includes some functionality for deploying BW queries, bNavigator is an more focussed on simplifying the deployment process, supporting quality governance and enhancing the user experience. bNavigator has many unique benefits and has been designed as a complementary solution to both SAP BI and the Enterprise Portal. Can I surface other types of information through bNavigator ... info from outside of SAP BI? Yes, in addition to SAP BI Web and Excel Reports, bNavigator enables the easy surfacing of SAP R/3 Reports (with variants) and R/3 transactions. It also allows the surfacing of network and web-based files. Additional connectors to other sources of information are planned for future versions of bNavigator. What do I need to run bNavigator? If you have SAP R/3, SAP EP or SAP BW/BI, you most likely already have everything you need. bNavigator is certified to run on the J2EE stack of the SAP Web Application Server 620 & 640 (now known as the Netweaver Web Application Server and the common platform for SAP applications). |
